“Cryogenmash” became the first Russian company-member of the World Hydrogen Council

26.01.2022
“Cryogenmash” (member of Gazprombank Group), the largest Russian manufacturer of air separation technologies and equipment, hydrogen industry and LNG, was included in the World Hydrogen Council; the company became the first representative of Russia in this largest international business association.

“Cryogenmash” has technologies in the field of hydrogen liquefaction, storage and transportation, based on the fundamental research of P.L. Kapitsa, the Nobel Prize winner in Physics. The company's products for the hydrogen industry are in great demand in Russia and abroad.

“Cryogenmash” participates actively in creation of the national hydrogen economy through the creation (together with other companies) of comprehensive development program for the low-carbon hydrogen energy industry in Russia (it will be submitted to the Russian Government for a decision on its start in 2022), as well as in forming of industry association - the Russian Hydrogen Union, and takes active part in the development of disciplinary and regulatory legal requirements for industrial products.

“The world community recognizes hydrogen as one of the sources of the world economy decarbonization, especially with reference to force the changeover to carbon neutrality. Russia has the substantial process base and expertise for the development of hydrogen energy and the exchange of experience at the international arena, which will accelerate our entry into the hydrogen energy market, contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, and will also strengthen the ties of Russian companies with the international business community and largest organizations in the field of hydrogen energy, the development of process cooperation, search and implementation of investment projects for the large-scale hydrogen integration into the alternative energy sources production system,” noted Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.

“The approval of “Cryogenmash” application to join the Hydrogen Council testifies the international recognition of the national industry contribution to the hydrogen technologies development. In addition, this fact provides the Russia active involvement in multilateral cooperation in the field of hydrogen economy and participation in work of relevant international structures at the corporate level, which follows in the development of priority tasks defined by the Russian Government within the plan "Development of hydrogen energy in the Russian Federation until 2024”, - said Tigran Khachaturov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cryogenmash, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Gazprombank.

PJSC “Cryogenmash” (member of Gazprombank Group) is the leader of the domestic cryogenic engineering industry. The company produces components of the hydrogen industry marketing infrastructure: vertical and horizontal tanks for liquid hydrogen storage, with capacity of up to 250 m3, as well as tank-containers with capacity of up to 42 m3, tanker-semitrailers with capacity of up to 45 m3 and railway tankers with capacity of up to 120 m3 for its transportation.
PJSC “Cryogenmash” is justifiably proud of its process solutions in the field of hydrogen. Back in 1960, due to the widespread use of liquid hydrogen as the fuel for Soviet rocket and space systems, the company developed cryogenic complexes for the rockets fueling at launch sites, liquid hydrogen storage and transportation systems. The design solutions and know-how accumulated over the many years of practice currently allow providing the storage of liquefied hydrogen without additional cooling for a period of at least 50 days, which is one of the world's best results. In addition, mainly Russian components and materials are used in industrial products manufacturing; it makes possible to ensure the tanks localization at the level of over 80%.
The company's products for the hydrogen industry are appreciated in foreign markets. Since 2000, PJSC “Cryogenmash” has exported over 15 liquid hydrogen storage and transportation systems to Europe and Asia. For example, in 2020-2021, the company shipped the liquid hydrogen storage and supply system components to India, and in 2022 it plans to provide the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) with its proprietary liquid hydrogen purification system.
