Technologies

The subdivisions of Cryogenmash posses the entire required complex of technological equipment (cutting equipment, forging equipment, fit-up and welding equipment, special and testing equipment), that ensure manufacture and testing of the fabricated equipment for all the parameters specified for the given type of the equipment.

For machining of the products (parts and assemblies, also those manufactured by welding, forging or casting) the machine-assembly production facility possesses a broad spectrum of cutting machines, including a stock of all-purpose screw-cutting lathes and turret drilling machines, turret equipment for machining the parts of a rotary-body type, CNC machines, milling-and-boring machines and grinding machines (including molding) for machining the parts and assembly units, also those of large size, vertical boring mills for machining of shells and end plates of various diameters, including the assemblies with these components, slotting machines and gear-making machines. There is an area for production of unified and standardized parts, hardware.

The assembly-and-welding production facility is fully furnished with technological equipment for manufacture and testing of the products, assemblies and units of helium refrigerators. The technological equipment for assembly-and-welding operations and welding works has a set of welding equipment for welding the shells and sheets, pipe circular joints, longitudinal seams. The products can be welded both manually and using a mechanized welding. In this case, in the manual mode use is made of both argon-arc nonconsumable-electrode welding and electric-arc stick-electrode welding

In the mechanized mode widely used is semiautomatic gas-arc consumable-electrode welding and automatic submerged arc welding.

There is a complex of stand equipment for vertical and horizontal assembly of the articles (in berths), including that for application of screen-vacuum insulation onto the inner vessels; a complex of testing equipment to test for strength and leak-tightness with air, to conduct vacuum tests with use of inert gases (helium and helium-air mixtures - HAM), low-temperature tests of the articles with liquid and gaseous nitrogen, with determining the evaporation rate characteristics and subsequent warming-up to ambient temperatures

To control the quality of the products, at the enterprise use is made of the quality methods of evaluation, such as radiographic testing, ultrasonic testing, dye penetrant flaw detection, pneumatic tests for strength and leak-tightness at a working pressure with use of acoustic emission; incoming inspection for mechanical properties and chemical composition is accomplished for delivered materials, testing of metal and welded joint specimens for correspondence to the requirements of the appropriate documents.

Annually conducted is certification of all types of welding operations, of stand and testing equipment; the proper functioning, serviceability and reliability of the equipment are confirmed through regular tests and testing of prototype models.

The machine-assembly production facility is equipped with required stand and testing equipment for assembly and testing of manual, pneumatically-driven and motor-operated valves (shut-off valves, shut-off-and-regulating valves, safety valves, check valves, change-over valves, block valves, gate valves, shutters, special valves) for strength (in armor cabins) and for leak-tightness via a gas-bubble method (in water bath) and using a pressure gauge method, for performance of vacuum tests with helium-air mixtures (HAM), warm tests (heating up to working temperatures) and cold tests with liquid and gaseous nitrogen (-193Ê), with cycling and working life, with checking and provision of required consumption characteristics of the article.

A required complex of assembly and test equipment is also available for valves units (ÁÀÐ) and control cabinets, for assembly and wiring operations of automated control and monitoring system (ÀÑÊÓ), for conducting the required electric tests for functioning, as prescribed by appropriated documentation.

There is a complex of the equipment for assembly and testing of turboexpanders, for manufacture of bearing units and impellers. The works are conducted on turboexpander rotor balancing and on testing the impellers in accelerating chambers. The enterprise has a complex of the stand equipment for performing the running tests of the units with read-out of working characteristics of the product.

The blank production facility includes a complex of technological equipment for location and spacing of sheet metal ( flame cutoff, flame cutting of sheets, plates, rolled stock, and guillotine cutting of metal sheets), rolled sections; also available are compression-type machines and stamping machines, foundry that satisfy in full the needs of the enterprise.

Also used and employed for production are the materials that are purchased on a cooperative basis from specialized enterprises of Russia and of import make; besides, used are purchased completing articles.

The forge-and-heat-treating workshop with its forge-press equipment and electric and gas-fired heating furnaces provides the production processes with blanks obtained via hot stamping, expansion, upset forging, forging from carbon and alloy steels, nonferrous metals and alloys. Ensured are the technological processes on heat treatment of the parts, tempering and quenching of welded metal structures, normalization and annealing; to strengthen the surface layers of the parts, they are subjected to carburizing treatment and nitride hardening.

The enterprise has a technological complex for fabrication of end plates used in manufacture of vessels, tanks, reservoirs and storage systems.

The available tool workshop provides the production processes with all necessary special cutting and measuring tools and instruments, with special assembly and testing tooling, stamping tooling; the workshop accommodates a bay for electric erosion machining of the parts, for gauge works, and a tool-grinding department. There is also a complex of technological equipment and the technology of applying the protective coating onto the parts, assembly units and products. As an anticorrosion protection of the products during operation that meets the customer's requirements, use is made of lacquer-paint coating made by Finnish Company "Technos Winter", with use of epoxide primer Inerta Primer and polyurethane surface paint Teknodur.

The enterprise has an extensive network of transport approach roads enabling to transport the products by motor transport and by railway transport, including large-size products. The production subdivisions have technological hoisting facilities for cargo handling operations; the products are packed in home-made containers.
