Adsorption gas separation plants

Adsorption air separation plants intended for production of oxygen and nitrogen using the method of PSA heatless adsorption (PSA)

At Cryogenmash there has been developed a series of PSA plants for obtaining air separation gaseous products featuring the following parameters:

  • for oxygen – capacity from 10 to 2 000 m3/hr with product purity of 93±1% vol. of Î2;
  • for nitrogen – capacity from 10 to 3 000 m3/hr with product purity of 99.9% vol. of N2;

The production of oxygen in the proposed oxygen plants of 5 300 m3/hr capacity is efficient in scrap metal recycling at the enterprises of "Vtormet", at repair and machine-building enterprises, at glass-blowing facilities, in medicine, fish-farming, also when creating the mobile posts of gas-plasma welding, brazing and metal cutting at building organizations.

The plants being developed for production of oxygen of a higher capacity – up to 2000 m3/hr of gaseous oxygen are needed by enterprises of ferrous and non-ferrous metallurgy, chemistry and petrochemistry, stations of sewage bioscrubbing, factories on recycling of industrial and human refuse, ozone stations for purification of potable water.

The PSA plants for production of nitrogen will find wide application at the enterprises of oil-and-gas industry, chemical and food-processing industries, in metallurgy, power engineering and in agriculture.

The advantages of the PSA plants as compared with the existing low-temperature distillation air-separation plants are:

  • low cost;
  • short payback time;
  • easy maintenance (no need in qualified attending personnel);
  • small size (the occupied space is a fraction of the value of the operating plants);
  • quick reaching of operating conditions (0.5 -1 hour versus 24-36 hours at cryogenic plants);
  • possibility of mobile design of the plant;
  • modular design and high mounting readiness (the costs of mounting are less by a factor of 1.5-2, than at cryogenic plants);
  • minimum of attending personnel (1 person versus 7-9 persons at one-shift operating schedule);
  • non-polluting process of oxygen and nitrogen production;
  • fireproofness and explosion safety.

In 2005 Cryogenmash fabricated 2 PSA oxygen plants:

  • ÀäÊò-0,075, of 70 m3/hr O2 capacity - for building enterprises JSC "Rinkolor", Noginsk;
  • ÀäÊò-0,075-1, of 60 m3/ahr O2 capacity - for the Kolsky atomic power station.

At present, the PSA plants of high capacities are being prepared for manufacture.
