History
Academician Peter L. KAPITSA, Nobel Prize Winner, the eminent scientist and founder of cryogenics in our country, played a decisive role in developing cryogenic engineering industry and creating our enterprise. When the first leader of Glavkislorod, P.L. KAPITSA took an active participation in realization of the decree of the USSR Government, adopted in May, 1945, in accordance with which the scientific centre VNIIKIMASH and Design Institute Giprokislorod were created and the construction of the Machine-Building Plant in Balashikha was started - the firstlings of cryogenic engineering industry of our country. The completion of construction and putting the plant productive capacities into operation in 1949 is considered by right the birth-year of our enterprise, then called NPO "CRYOGENMASH", incorporated the Machine-Building Plant and VNIICRYOGENMASH into a scientific and industial complex - at present Joint Stock Company of Cryogenic Engineering (JSC "CRYOGENMASH").
During the half-century history CRYOGENMASH took part in a lot of large-scale programs and projects. The introduction of oxygen steel-making converter method and development of industrial chemistry, creation of large systems for filling rockets with cryogenic products at launch complexes of our country and abroad, mastery of superconductivity - all this motivated the powerful and great advance in development of cryogenic engineering in the second half of the 20 century and became stage landmarks in the history of our enterprise on the path of scientific-and-technological progress.
